Oh Glory - people really are a giggle a minute. Amazingly enough, those were just plain old dating disasters (apart from the Moroccan who was just a tour guide who ook a fancy to me, and didn't handle rejection well). I don't think I'd dare go near a dating agency or website - it would simply increase the chances of more dates along those lines and I think I've had my share. Enough for humour but any more would just show bad judgement ;) I'm pretty much cool with my life, it would just be lovely if people could restrain judgement that if you're not on your way to being married and 2 point 4 kids by the time you're thirty, you life is missing something. It's not!

Good lord... Those dating agency 'mutant misfortunes' sound like they came straight out of a bad comic strip. Those are, unfortunately, the types of guys you will find through those channels though. I'm avoiding them. Although I did catch the very best EVER singles ad in the paper last week:

"WE MET IN KATMANDU
"18 y/o, f, bi-sexual, looking for someone to lie about where we met..."

We all know a lot of those I-have-a-lovely-fella-look-how-perfect-my-life-is-I-feel-so-sorry-for-you-being-unwanted types. You'll have embraced your potential in the meantime, though, and found true fulfillment as you never can through another person. That is more often than not a facade for contentment, possibly a shade of happiness but no where near the full spectrum. No one can hide from themselves. Not even the greatest Illusionists in the history of the world can pull off that stunt.

Thank you for your comment regarding the situation with my brother. I'm sorry to learn of your loss. Genuine empathy is priceless. So that brings me back to the wearing-it-on-your-sleeve sentiment that I was reading in another post of yours. But with comments THIS long it really wouldn't help anyone to post more than one.

May the remainder of your weekend be fair and merry.

Cie - thank you! Loved your response post.

Cecilia - Thanks for dropping by and for your comment. You hit the nail on the head exactly. I have developed my own life and if somebody wants to join me in that, then rock on but I have no intentions of changing myself to suit someone else.

I'm with you, if not in celibacy, at least in your point of view.
But as I'm over 30 let me tell you something. This is the best age you can have, because you know what you want, and you feel like you finally own your destiny.
MAybe in your 20's you would date guys and try to adjust yourself to what they wanted or was expected of you , but now, that you're not willing to compromise, you'll find someone that you can actually live with and be yourself.
So enjoy life and totally ignore people who think you're turning into a spinster. They just don't know what else to talk about.
