Weekendus Domesticus

Despite being in the middle of yet more building work due to the house flooding last month, I decided to have a domestic Sunday, or at least as far as is possible with half my kitchen currently residing in the living room.
I had a lovely time decanting various bottles of my homemade liqueurs into nice bottles, ready to give out to friends at Christmas:

… and trying out a new recipe for banana and walnut loaf. It came out very dense and moist so I think I might change the recipe slightly for next time but still very nice:

Hope you all had a nice weekend too
What a great idea for a present! Every year, I vow to make THIS Christmas a handmade Christmas, and then inevitably, I have run out of time and dash around the shops (or the internet), spending much more on presents than I wanted to.
This year is really going to be different. I gave my husband’s best friend’s girlfriend a cozy pale blue (not-inexpensive) cashmere scarf last year and on New Year’s Eve she told me ‘thankyou, but you won’t see me wearing that, it makes me look completely ridiculous’. I was gobsmacked, hurt and now, 10 months on, determined to give presents only to those who will appreciate them!
How incredibly rude. There’s really no excuse for manners that poor.
Homemade liqueurs are a great present as they’re really cheap (going blackberry picking and using tesco value vodka or gin, which somehow seems to yield better results than using the more expensive versions) and don’t require much in the way of effort. A quick shake once every few weeks for 4 months and hey presto.
